Qualifications for Police Officer

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • Must be between 21 and 34 years of age at the time of exam.
  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • No criminal record except minor traffic violations.
  • Valid Ohio drivers license.
  • Must be or become a resident of Hancock County or its immediate adjoining counties within 6 months of hire date.

LATERAL TRANSFER PROGRAM 

The Findlay Police Department is always offering a lateral transfer program to fill vacancies with qualified law enforcement officers. 

Qualification for Lateral Transfer

  • Must be 21 years of age at the time of examination and not have reached your 39th birthday before date of hire.
  • Applicants must have at least a minimum of two (2) years of full-time law enforcement experience, or have resigned or been laid off from such a position and have not been out of active Ohio law enforcement for more than one year.
  • Applicants must include a copy of their Ohio Peace Officer Certificate with their application filing.
