Findlay, Ohio Joins AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities
Post Date:08/27/2026 3:29 PMThe City of Findlay, in collaboration with 50 North, has been accepted into the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities, joining a growing network of communities across the country committed to creating places where people of all ages can live, work, and thrive.
The AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities encourages local leaders to prepare for the nation’s rapidly aging population while strengthening the features and services that make communities more livable for residents at every stage of life.
Through the program, communities examine areas such as housing, transportation, outdoor spaces and buildings, social participation, communication, community support, and access to health and other essential services. The goal is to identify opportunities to make communities safer, more accessible, more connected, and more welcoming for residents of all ages and abilities.
“Findlay has always been a community that values its residents, and that means making sure our community continues to work for people at every stage of life,” said Mayor Christina Muryn. “Joining the AARP Network gives us another opportunity to listen to our residents, identify areas where we can improve, and build on the many things that already make Findlay a great place to call home.”
As part of the enrollment process, led by 50 North, Findlay will assess the community’s age-friendliness, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop strategies to address the needs and priorities identified by residents. The process will include meaningful opportunities for residents age 50 and older to share their experiences and perspectives. There is no cost to the City or residents to participate in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States and Communities.
“An age-friendly community is really a community that works better for everyone,” said Carolyn Copus, Executive Director of 50 North. “When we improve opportunities and connections within our community we are creating a stronger Findlay for seniors, families, individuals with disabilities and residents of all ages.”
By joining the AARP Network, Findlay joins communities across Ohio and the nation that are working to create more inclusive and livable communities. The network provides participating communities with resources, guidance, and connections to help turn local priorities into meaningful improvements.
