The City of Findlay recognized three outstanding public safety professionals during an awards ceremony held at 10 a.m. today in Council Chambers at the Findlay Municipal Building.

Vice Narcotics Detective Dillon Kliesch was named Officer of the Year 2025 for the Findlay Police Department. Dillon has served with the City since August 14, 2017, and currently works in the Detective Division. Throughout his career, he has also served as a Field Training Officer, RAIDER/Active Shooter instructor and member of the Crisis Management Team. Department leadership noted his dedication to complex narcotics investigations, long hours building strong cases, and continued support of Patrol officers. He has received two Letters of Compliment, one Letter of Recognition, three Letters of Commendation and a Life Saving Award. “Leaders like Dillon are often the most influential,” Police Chief Mathias said. “He represents himself and this department with integrity and treats people with the utmost kindness and respect.”

Police Dispatcher Sara Douglas was recognized as Civilian Employee of the Year 2025. Sara has served the City since June 15, 2009, and is known for her calm, quick-thinking presence in high-stress emergencies. She provides critical pre-arrival instructions, coordinates first responders and manages multiple systems while guiding callers through traumatic situations. In addition to her daily responsibilities, she serves as a Communications Training Officer and Tyler Technologies system trainer. She has earned three Letters of Compliment, three Letters of Recognition and was named Dispatcher of the Year in 2018. “Dispatchers are truly the unsung heroes of public safety,” Chief Mathias said. “Sara’s dedication, reliability and professionalism make her an invaluable member of our department.”

Tim Fritz was named Firefighter of the Year 2025 for the Findlay Fire Department. Fritz began his service on February 25, 2016, celebrating his 10-year anniversary this week. He serves as a firefighter, EMT and continuing education instructor. In his nomination, a colleague wrote that he went above and beyond by helping a family shovel snow after a medical emergency and described him as one of the most reliable and motivated individuals he has worked with. Fire Chief Eberle said Fritz’s commitment and work ethic reflect the highest standards of the profession. He resides in Findlay with his wife, Carol.

“These individuals represent the very best of our city,” Mayor Muryn said. “Their professionalism and dedication strengthen our entire community.”

The City would like to extend its sincere appreciation to all members of its Police and Fire Departments for their continued service and commitment to protecting and serving the community.
