The City of Findlay is partnering with Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) and has proposed a project that will include the installation of a shared-use path along the north side of State Route 568. The proposed path will begin at shared-use path on County Road 236 and will extend to the east utilizing the north ditch of State Route 568. Once the share-use path reaches Township Road 241, the path will traverse south towards Riverbend Park. The addition of the shared-use path will provide a safe connection to the Greenway Trail, Riverbend Park, US Route 224, and to the existing shared-use paths throughout the city for pedestrians and cyclists. This project is scheduled to begin construction in spring 2025 with a completion by the end of December 2025.
Prior to the start of construction, detailed construction updates along the impacted route will be posted on the City of Findlay’s website, www.findlayohio.gov. During construction, one way traffic shall be maintained along State Route 568 by closing the westbound lane. Access shall be maintained to all adjacent properties and businesses for the duration of the project. If at any time a drive access needs to be temporarily closed, the City of Findlay and its contractor will coordinate the temporary closure with the respective property owner.
Work at this location will occur in the regulated floodplain for the Blanchard River. Impacts to this floodplain are anticipated to be minor and result in no rise in localized flood levels. The path will also require a minor amount of tree removal, and work within a designated wetland.
