Natural Gas Supplier Chosen-IGS Energy

Post Date:09/01/2022 12:00 PM

The City of Findlay has contracted with IGS Energy to provide natural gas supplier services to its residents through its gas aggregation program. The program is 24-month at a fixed-rate of $.853 per ccf with no early termination fee. The program will run from October 2022-September 2024.

Letters detailing the offer for the City of Findlay natural gas aggregation program are scheduled to mail the week of September 5, 2022.

The City of  Findlay wanted to use this opportunity to provide additional context for the new offering and to remind residents of the alternatives available to residents.

The City of Findlay would like to remind residents that the aggregation program is simply another option for residents to consider, and it is important that residents make themselves aware of the other options available to them, specifically:

• The Public Utility Commission of Ohio provides a list of other publicly available offers on their website, www.energychoice.ohio.gov. The City of Findlay program rate, while higher than anyone wishes, is competitive with those comparable alternatives. Anyone considering those supply offers should be aware of any early termination penalties, fixed monthly charges, or automatic renewal provisions that can quickly offset any perceived savings. The City of Findlay's program includes none of the above.
• The utility’s supply rate, the Standard Choice Offer (SCO), is a variable rate option. It follows monthly market conditions and has trended up and down throughout the year. That rate is currently above the new program offer, but there is no guarantee that it will remain higher.

Again, the City of Findlay would like to remind residents that the program is simply another option for residents and small businesses to consider in their efforts to manage their energy costs in these trying times.

Eligible accounts can expect an opt-out letter from the new program supplier, IGS Energy, in the coming weeks. Please read that letter carefully.  Among other things, it will explain the means of opting out over a 3-week period. For those not opting out, a second letter will come from the utility, Columbia Gas of Ohio, giving residents another 7-days to rescind their enrollment. The City of Findlay voluntary program also allows residents to leave free-of-charge at any time for any reason without penalty.

Once letters are sent out in early September, residents can contact the new program supplier, IGS Energy, at 877-353-0162. At that time, IGS Energy representatives will be able to answer any questions regarding the letter residents have received or future participation in the program.
